2016, that is the year we are still stuck in and the election we are still stuck in. For the Republican party and the country that is the year that Donald Trump should have gone away, as voiced by popular vote leading up to the election. Trump lost the popular vote twice and yet the Republicans still support him. While many do support his platform, and I do respect that, but the fact that the majority of Americans have voted AGAINST him twice is just proof that the Republicans need to move on. His previous 2 losses weren't by small margins either. He lost on average, by 5M votes. It is time for the Republicans to move on but that’s not the only problem. The problem is that any Republican who has either a shot at winning nationally or is actually presidential is too scared to run against Trump. This has led to a bunch of qualified candidates who don't have the momentum to win. If he loses in 2024 then what next? Will the Republicans move on, or stick with the MAGA movement and split the party further.
